Good Citizen Medal Tests

KENNEL CLUB GOOD CITIZENS MEDAL TESTS
Pets In Partnership is Kennel Club Listed
Head Instructor:  Karen Howells

WHAT ARE THE GOOD CITIZENS MEDAL TESTS?

This is a scheme run by the British Kennel Club which is made up of a series of 4 awards.  It is for all dogs, mixed breed or pedigree.  They are not competitions; they are achievement awards marking the progress and success of your relationship together, your training and how good your dog is in public.  The exercises are simple, relevant to day to day life and can make really fun goal posts for you, as well as providing well deserved acknowledgement of your hard work.  For detailed information go to www.thekennelclub.org.uk/dogtraining

TRAINING OPTIONS

Our Weekly Pet Dog Classes

As indicated, the Foundation Award is incorporated into our weekly Beginners courses for under 1 yr olds.

We automatically include training for the Bronze, Silver & Gold Awards in our weekly Intermediate and Advanced courses.  They then become a key focus when scheduled test dates are approaching.

For more information on our pet dog classes go to: Dog Training Classes - Pet Dog Training in drop-down menus above.

GCMT Weekend Courses
We run weekend training days leading up to scheduled tests, generally on Saturdays and the occasional Sundays.

Training Days

Our Training Days provide the opportunity to work on / train your dogs specifically for the different exercises involved in the relevant tests.  These are useful days for people whose dogs have already received fundamental training, but would like the extra time or who have perhaps been out of training for a while and would like to brush up on bits and pieces.

Although there can be variations Bronze and Silver training are often paired together so the structure of the day tends to be as follows:

10am – 12.30pm Bronze Training
2.30pm – 4pm Silver Training

You can just do half a day, or if you are feeling confident, you can do both!

The Gold training is run on its own and starts at 10am.

Mock Test Days

These are an extension of the general training days.  You are formally taken through the tests by your instructor so that you can get a feel for what might occur.  There is then time for extra training on any exercises that are proving challenging amongst the group.

Bronze and Silver mock tests are often paired together so the structure of the day is generally as follows:

10am – 12.30pm Bronze Mock Test
2.30pm – 4pm Silver Mock Test

You can just do half a day, or if you are feeling confident, you can do both!

The Gold training is run on its own and starts at either 10am or 2.30pm.

The mock tests are not guaranteed prior to every medal test - we don't always have the time availability at the centre to slot them in.
