Providing Instructor lead group walks, on lead, for the purpose of practising training in a real-life rural setting, providing alternative social exposure and teaching dogs good, calm social skills.
These are 1 hour sessions. The walks are about calm social exposure, learning to handle arousal levels and read body language both in your own dogs and in the dogs around you. The sessions start in an open space we use as a warmup area, where we just get the dogs focusing in on you.
We then set off, with the direction of the walk dependent upon group, time of year, and conditions. The walks include settle work and occasionally gate work too. Content of lessons are adapted in accordance to the group.
Size of groups will vary but the ratio is generally 6 handlers & dogs to 1 instructor. Two instructors may come together to work larger groups. The minimum requirement for a walk to go ahead is six dogs.
Our Walking Classes run primarily in Spring, Summer, and Autumn, with a minimum of one session per month. While weather conditions may affect the schedule, we offer walks mostly on Monday mornings and occasionally on Saturday mornings.
Majority of walks run at 9am on either day. Occasional variations can occur.
Walks are lead by Rebecca Lawrence-Baker.
We have a Whatsapp Group for the Walks where we post up newly scheduled dates and times as well as group size details. If you would like to be added to this group please contact the office on 07593 875748
